Prestigious event for UNESCO heritage sites, at the Palazzo della Meridiana, part of the ‘Strade nuove e sistema dei Palazzi dei Rolli’.
From September 12 to 14, 2024, Genoa will become the global center of tourism with the fifteenth World Tourism Event – World Tourism Expo for UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This prestigious event, the main meeting point between supply and demand for tourism in UNESCO cities and sites, will be held in the historic Palazzo della Meridiana, part of the UNESCO site “Strade Nuove and the system of the Palazzi dei Rolli.” Staying at ‘Le Stanze del Piccadilly‘ you will be just a few minutes’ walk from the event venue.
Visitors will have free access to a rich and fascinating exhibition area, where they can find information on cultural trips to World Heritage sites and experiences of intangible heritage from Italy and abroad. Additionally, there will be a full schedule of events to better understand Italian and international UNESCO heritage.
A key feature of the event is the B2B workshop reserved for tourism operators, which will take place all day on Thursday, September 12. Marco Citerbo, Sole Director of M & C Marketing Consulting, the agency organizing the WTE, explains: “The B2B workshop is one of the highlights of the World Tourism Event, thanks to the quality and variety of the participating tourism operators, both buyers and sellers. About 50 buyers are selected in collaboration with ENIT and the agency’s overseas offices.”
This year, buyers come from countries such as France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, the United States, Israel, Australia, and Italy. They are all operators interested in the Italian market, with a focus on cultural tourism and UNESCO heritage sites, aiming to enrich their catalogs with new and conscious experiences that pay attention to culture, art, traditions, history, nature, and sustainability. The WTE workshop is a valuable opportunity for sellers in UNESCO areas to promote their territory, accommodation facilities, and cultural experiences.
The workshop will take place on September 12 in two sessions: from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sellers will have the chance to meet buyers and present their offerings. All registered sellers will receive information about the buyers in advance, but meetings cannot be scheduled beforehand, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to interact freely.
